Emerging Technology and Digital Research Librarian Pennsylvania State University University Park The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law has an immediate opening for an Emerging Technology and Digital Research Librarian at its University Park location. The Emerging Technology and Digital Research Librarian's (ETDRL) primary responsibility will be to help members of the Law School and School of International Affairs (SIA) communities maximize their awareness and effective research use of the digital collections maintained by the Law Library and Penn State University Libraries as well as the increasingly important legal and law-related research collections available on the Web. Specifically, the ETDRL will evaluate digital information products, track emerging trends in their use as research and publishing resources in an academic environment, and make recommendations of digital works that would enhance the Law Library's research collection quality. For those digital products chosen for the collection, the ETDRL will take a lead role in the process of licensing and maintaining licenses for those digital works. Additionally, the ETDRL will develop tools and training programs designed to increase faculty and student awareness and effective use of digital collections, and will draft policies related to the acquisition, use, and retention of electronic resources and online information. The ETDRL will also assist the Law Library's Scholarly Communications and Faculty Services Librarian with the maintenance of the digital Institutional Repository - the Penn State Law eLibrary (elibrary.law.psu.edu). In addition to these primary duties, the ETDRL serves as a member of the Law Library's reference and research support team, providing general reference assistance to all members of the J.D., LL.M., S.J.D. and SIA programs and Law Library patrons, in general. The ETDRL will also be expected to teach legal research classes as part of the Law School's required first-year course (Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing) and will participate in all aspects of Law Library planning and program development. (or their equivalent degrees) from ALA/ABA accredited schools are required. Candidates with demonstrable expertise supporting digital information resources in an academic setting will be strongly favored. The successful candidate will possess a strong service orientation, the ability to work well with a demanding clientele, and a willingness to work creatively and proactively with minimal direct supervision.
