Dear All,

This position - though hard to tell from the below - is chiefly for a
developer position in the Library of Congress's Network Development and
MARC Standards Office, also known as NetDev for short. Our office, as
its name suggests, manages the MARC Format standards, but we also
promulgate XLM schemas such as MODS, MADS, MIX, ALTO, and provide
maintenance services for a few others (PREMIS, METS, VRA). We manage
LC's Linked Data Service - ID.LOC.GOV - and the Performing Arts
Encyclopedia. Our office is also the primary engine behind Bibframe; we
do all the development toward that within LC too. So, there's a lot you
could be working on, and I'd be surprised - very surprised - if you
didn't work on all of the above at some point.

Unsurprisingly, we utilize XML technologies heavily, especially XQuery
and XSLT, but we in fact work with much more, including Python, Django,
NodeJS, Javascript, bash, and generally anything that gets the job done
well, whatever the job is.

Do check out the fuller listing:

In fact, the KSAs - government(?) speak for Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities assessment - provide a pretty good indication about the type
of individual we're looking for.

If you've worked in the library space for a while, then you have likely
developed some or all of the experienced noted in the KSAs, not to
mention the problem solving skills and facility to communicate to a wide
range of individuals and groups.

Basically, this job opportunity is like most library developer jobs out
there: you'll work with a great set of people who'll be delighted to
have you and where we are all expected to be Swiss Army knives.

The position opening closes two weeks from today, so plenty of time to
apply.

All the best,
Kevin
