NCSU Libraries Fellows, 2015-2017
North Carolina State University
Raleigh

The NCSU Libraries has a well-earned reputation for creating adventurous
library spaces and innovative services that delight today's students and
researchers. The award-winning James B. Hunt Jr. Library, opened in 2013 on NC
State's Centennial Campus, offers faculty and students access to advanced
technologies such as large-scale visualization, simulated environments, 3D
imagery, and interactive computing that are enabling revolutionary ways to see
and use information. An iconic building that captures NC State's spirit of
innovation in education and research, the Hunt Library is recognized as one of
the world's most creative learning and collaborative spaces and a model for
"the library of the future". The D. H. Hill Library, serving the main campus,
combines the best of tradition and innovation, housing special collections and
a beautiful gallery alongside vibrant, experiential spaces such as the
Learning Commons, Technology Sandbox, Visualization Studio, and Makerspace. If
you are a person who would like to provide a new generation of library users
with everything they can imagine and more, consider applying for this
position.

Professional positions for new librarians

The NCSU Libraries Fellows program offers a unique opportunity to a select
group of M.L.S. and M.I.S. graduates who will receive the degree between
September 2014 and August 2015. Fellows will be appointed at the rank of
librarian for a two-year term from July 2015 through June 2017. An option for
January or September placement may be available, depending upon graduation
date. The NCSU Libraries is particularly well known for its digital library
programs, its technological advances, and its commitment to defining the
future of librarianship. The NCSU Libraries offers Fellows the opportunity for
rapid professional growth through assignment to one of the Libraries'
strategic initiatives, combined with experience and mentoring in a department.

Why choose the NCSU Libraries for your first professional position?

The NCSU Libraries offers you the opportunity to launch your career in a
leading research library, where librarians experience the rewards of working
with a diverse clientele, including outstanding faculty and students in
nationally ranked academic programs. You will gain experience in teamwork and
have access to decision makers. Your assignment to an innovative initiative
allows you to work closely with librarians and information technology
professionals throughout the library. The NCSU Libraries Fellows program
differs from many others by allowing Fellows to determine the direction of
their development by choosing the initiative or the home department to which
they are assigned. Library managers and administrators are readily available
to provide feedback and guidance to help you develop skills and learn how to
make good career decisions. The Fellows program can provide you with
experiences that will enhance your learning potential and future career
opportunities.
