The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications from dynamic
individuals for the position of Digital Collections Librarian (15269). This
faculty position, reporting to the Head, Digital Collections, is primarily
responsible for managing digital library workflow as part of a fast-paced and
highly collaborative team. The librarian is responsible for coordinating
several functional areas of a growing digital library; including: management
of a digitization lab and scanning operations, digital file management and
digital preservation; metadata and linked open data creation, quality control
for large scale production, and administration of specialized digital asset
management software (currently CONTENTdm). The librarian will hire, mentor and
supervise a team of student assistants and/or temporary employees and provide
leadership in establishing and motivating the team to meet deadlines and
digitization goals. The Digital Collections Librarian creates and delivers
robust training for the team, coordinates vendor outsourcing projects, and
maintains technical documentation. The primary purpose of this position is to
ensure accuracy and efficiency within the complex digital library production
environment by gathering information, delegating tasks, and making sound
decisions to meet deadlines established by the Division/Department Head and
external granting agencies. The librarian will provide a vision for production
in the digital library, facilitate effective communication among staff, and
build complete and accurate documentation of procedures, ultimately
contributing to the strategic goals of providing users increased access to
