It's hard to say exactly what went wrong, but in PHP a blank screen (the
"white screen of death" usually indicates a fatal error (parse or runtime
error) has occurred and you will need to go look in your web server's
error log. In there, the error will be detailed as long as some degree of
error_reporting is enabled for PHP.

It's also possible to make PHP show the error on screen in the browser,
but that is generally unwise on a public facing site.
