Digital Initiatives Projects Librarian

The University of Alberta Libraries, with a long tradition of technological
innovation and service excellence, seeks a dynamic and engaged professional to
play a lead role in the planning and execution of a growing program of digital
library initiatives.

  
Reporting to the Associate University Librarian, Information Resources and
Digital Initiatives, and working within a highly engaged team-based
environment, the successful candidate proposes, guides, monitors and assesses
a wide variety of digital library projects. The successful candidate will
participate and shape all phases of the planning and development of a wide
range of digital library projects, including the development of business cases
and project plans, the coordination of workflows, costing and budget analysis,
vendor selection and contracting, communication planning, quality control, and
assessment. The position will support projects across the full spectrum of the
Libraries' digital initiatives, including new and emerging areas driven by
digital scholarship and open education.

  
The University of Alberta Libraries is a leading research library in Canada,

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MLS degree from an accredited library school and
demonstrated experience in project management. In addition to an MLS,
background training in Humanities Computing, Computing Science and/or and
Project Management is an asset. Applicants must possess a strong service
orientation, excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding and
awareness of digital library development, an interest in implementing new
initiatives and in evaluation of current practice, superior leadership skills,
a demonstrated commitment to cooperative action and collaborative work, and a
demonstrated interest in the goals of the Libraries and the profession.
