Scholarly Publishing Data Analyst (7584) University of California Oakland To view the full description and/or to apply, please visit:]( https://jobs.ucop.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=58062) **Positon Summary:** The California Digital Library (CDL) is a collaborative effort of the ten campuses of the University of California designed to enable UC's libraries to continue to meet the informational needs of UC's faculty and students in the 21st century. The CDL assumes a leadership role in providing digital content to the citizens of the state, develops systems that encourage resource sharing, and provides for a focus for the development of strategies and initiatives that guide the University's libraries through the transition to the digital future. Under the general supervision of the CDL Director of Collection Development and Management, the Scholarly Publishing Data Analyst has primary responsibility for coordinating and implementing data collection and analysis for a large scale collaborative study of new economic models of scholarly journal publishing. The incumbent will coordinate and support the work of internal and external project partners and third party bibliometric and modeling specialists; acquire relevant data from publishers and other data providers; create templates and tools to facilitate data collection and reporting; perform data cleanup and normalization and investigate and resolve data issues; facilitate communication and data sharing among the relevant partners; and create detailed documentation of the data analysis methodologies. **Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years working with scholarly journals and bibliographic data in a library, publishing, or related information management setting, including work with largescale data manipulation tools, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of library acquisitions and journal publishing practices, standards and trends. Strong knowledge of developments, models and trends in open access publishing. Excellent skills and knowledge of methodologies and tools for computer-based data analysis and manipulation, including the ability to design tools and methods for data capture and normalization. Strong knowledge of library systems and bibliographic tools. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non- technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and narrative descriptions. Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with and manipulate large amounts of complex financial and bibliometric data. Master's degree in library and information science or a related discipline.
