Web Developer (CHOICE Magazine)

CHOICE Magazine (www.ala.org/acrl/choice/), an internationally recognized
scholarly publishing enterprise of the Association of College and Research
Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA) is
seeking an experienced Web Developer. CHOICE is the premier
source for reviews of new English-language books and digital resources for
academic libraries.

  
Reporting to the Editor & Publisher, the Web Developer will be a key member of
the Choice publishing staff, responsible for maintaining and upgrading both
customer-facing and back-end systems for Choice web-based products, including
Choice Reviews Online and Choice Connect, the Choice production system. As the
technical lead for web products and services, he or she will work in
cooperation with the Information Services Manager and the external developers
of our existing products and platforms to suggest and implement enhancements
to these systems and will play a key role in evaluating new-product proposals
from a technical perspective, translating an in-depth knowledge of current
trends in digital technologies into ideas for new products and services.

  
Requirements: The incumbent will have robust command of web technologies and
frameworks, including Apache, Linux, Symfony, Drupal, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript,
HTML, and CSS More broadly, he or she will be familiar with
the range of digital products and technologies used in the academic library
community and will have demonstrated--through coursework or previous
professional experience--both an understanding of information technology and
an aptitude for creating cutting-edge solutions to problems of information
architecture, discovery, retrieval, and display. A
bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science or five years'
equivalent work experience required.
