**General Dynamics IT has an opening for a Senior Java / Metadata Developer in Bay St. Louis, MS**.  
  
_Position requires an Active Secret Security clearance.

Candidates that are eligible for a Secret clearance may be considered._

  
GENERAL SUMMARY: Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide
systems and/or applications software.

  
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Designs and codes software components, units, and modules that meet product
specifications and development schedules.

2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

3. Tests and debugs assigned components and units.

4. Participates in large system and subsystem planning.

5. Writes and updates technical documentation such as user manuals, system
documentation, and training materials.

6. Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for software operating
systems and application issues.

7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

8. Participates in special projects as required

  
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of software engineering principles, methods, and
techniques.

2. Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment

  
Task Level Responsibilities:

1. Support and implements all phases of scientific and engineering projects
such as research, analysis, collection, assessment, design, development,
testing, modeling, simulation, integration, installation, training
documentation and implementation.

2. Identify recommended oceanographic metadata standardizations

3. Document metadata standards and search criteria for all oceanographic
products and services that will be registered in Naval Enterprise Portal
Oceanography (NEP-Oc)

4. Ensure metadata tags and structure conform to NMIS 2.0 standards

5. Assist users and producers in registering products in the NEP-Oc.

6. Work with product and service owners to identify metadata used to describe
their products and services

7. Reconcile collected data with other authoritative metadata sources

8. Work in conjunction with Agile Development team on assigned user stories

  
Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum
or major field of study which provides substantial knowledge useful in
managing large, complex AIS projects, is closely related to the work to be
automated, and/or in a computer science, information system, a physical
science, engineering or a mathematics - intensive discipline, or an applicable
training certificate from an accredited training institution.

  
6 years of relevant/related experience in addition to the required experience
may be considered for substitution/equivalency of a Bachelor's degree.

  
Required Experience:

• 5+ years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in performing
systems analysis, development, and implementation for business, mathematical,
engineering or scientific settings using a variety of information technology
resources. Experience with current technologies and emerging technologies.

  
Required Skills, Qualifications or Experience:

o Metadata Knowledge (CWS, WMS, NMIS 2.0, DDMS, Geoportal, Geoserver)

o Experience with metadata standardization

o Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.

o Basic technical knowledge (Server interactions, GET's & POST's, call
functions)

o Knowledge of Java, JSP, Javascript, HTML, CSS Linux knowledge

  
Preferred Skills, Qualifications or Experience:

o Experience with metadata using oceanographic, meteorological or biological
data preferred.

o Understanding and experience with NSG Metadata Implementation Specification
(NMIS)

o Experience with industry schemas like Dublin Core, etc.

o Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.

o Selenium Testing

  
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is typically performed in an office environment,
which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical
effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
