Islandora has a compound image model that allows for objects in the repository to be related to each other. An example in the Islandora Foundation's sandbox: http://sandbox.islandora.ca/islandora/object/islandora%3A105 This is made up of two large image objects: http://sandbox.islandora.ca/islandora/object/islandora%3A103 http://sandbox.islandora.ca/islandora/object/islandora%3A104 Through theming you can pick which metadata you want to appear on the collection object page. By default, it displays the metadata of the first item. Although the two component items are large images, there is not a restriction on the types of objects that can be related in a collection object, nor is there a limit on the number of objects that can be related to one collection object.
