Curious. It goes on to a different error (the convert to JSON actually works) when my working directory is c:\Users\charper, but not if my working directory is c:\Perl. But my import to CouchDB of the ebook bibs worked in the c:\Perl directory.

Care to share the mrc file to see if I'd get the same results?
Also I would think a space between the < and c:\ would be needed.
