Web Developer (Mapping) Pennsylvania State University University Park We require a Web developer with experience working with mappingtechnologies to contribute to the development of software for acartographic project We are looking to replace an existing implementation of WordPress andMapbox (see https://digitallab.psu.edu/projects/mappingbelami) with aplatform-independent solution, built on open Web technologies. The purposeof this project is to allow students to add places of narrative importanceto a map, providing textual and visual content for reference. Developersshould use the aforementioned link as an example of project content andbasic functionality. We require someone with expertise in the Web technologies necessary tobuild this platform. Pre existing open source libraries may be used, butall code must be appropriately commented, and thorough documentationdetailing all modular development and integration must be provided. From an operational perspective, the finished development should work asfollows: * Students will place data into a structured format * This data will appear on the front-end map * As is currently the case, the map must be interactive, allowing for users to click between these points, displaying the relevant data We appreciate that there are multiple ways to approach this functionality, and welcome proposals from developers as to how they would build this tool. The structure should be reusable, so that the underlying data can bechanged in the future, and implemented across a number of similar projects. This is a short-term, grant-funded opportunity. Any queries should be address to Dawn Childress ([log in to unmask]) and JamesO'Sullivan ([log in to unmask]).
