Rails Developer
Harvard University
Cambridge, MA

Hello! My team is seeking a Boston-area Ruby on Rails developer for a library
application that involves author name/identity data harvested from author-to-
publisher interactions.

  * You'd be picking up a partially-developed application whose code can be found here: [https://github.com/berkmancenter/author_names](https://github.com/berkmancenter/author_names)
  * This is intended to be a short-term project over the next few months and we're hoping you're local so we can have some productive initial face-to-face meetings
  * You can find a more descriptive blurb our project here: [http://library.harvard.edu/oaq ](http://library.harvard.edu/oaq)The page also provides links to the code and some active documentation that includes user work flows that we want to support.
While the application is currently capturing the data we need, we'd like to
focus on some of the user-facing components. We're also looking to integrate
both ORCID and ISNI API calls into the application.

We've had some conversations with area Ruby developers and we understand that
there is a bit of infrastructure work that needs to be done including a
conversion to Rails 4, some restructuring of the code to make it more modular
and readable, and the inclusion of tests. We'd like to
pursue these areas before moving into the features described above (and
more!).

Please forward this message along to any programmers you might know,
especially if they have worked with libraries in the past. If you're local and
are interested in what we are up to, we'd love to talk. Contact our team at
[[log in to unmask]](mailto:[log in to unmask]).

Colin Van Alstine, on behalf of the OAQ team
