Digital Publishing Services Manager

SUNY Geneseo seeks a service-oriented, versatile, and dynamic professional to
develop and implement a strategy for digital scholarship and publishing
services at Milne Library. As part of the Milne Library's Technical Services
Unit, this position will work closely with the Digital Archivist and the
Digital Curriculum Librarian as a fellow team member in support of the
Library's strategic goal to advance digital scholarship, publishing and
learning initiatives, and establish the library's role in the research and
publication lifecycle of scholarship at Geneseo.

  
We are looking for a team member with a commitment to digital publishing who
can thrive in an environment that encourages experimentation and creativity,
and will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and SUNY
colleagues to grow initiatives in support of new and emerging modes of digital
publishing, scholarship, and scholarly communication. The successful candidate
will lead current publishing projects through the development and promotion of
the Minerva Press, Open SUNY Textbooks, and IDS Project Press imprints.

  
Responsibilities:

  
-Assists in the establishment of best practices, engages campus scholars, and provides guidance on scholarly communication issues and concerns.  
-Builds relationships with faculty and students by participating in instruction, consultation, and outreach related to digital scholarship and scholarly communication.  
-Effectively uses project management skills to develop and implement digital scholarship and publishing projects in collaboration with campus partners.  
-Participates in grant proposal writing and budget planning for digital publishing and scholarship projects.  
-Develops assessment metrics, in coordination with library Assessment Team, to measure impact of digital scholarship projects supported by library.  
-Plans and coordinates editing and production of publishing projects.  
-Coordinates graphic design, marketing, and promotions of publications in collaboration with library Marketing Team.  
-Plans strategy and develops services in collaboration with other library units and teams, campus stakeholders and the publishing services' editorial board.   
  
Required Qualifications:

  
-Master's degree in information and/or library science (MLS) or in relevant field of expertise (MFA, Masters in Publishing, etc.).  
-Knowledge of and 1 to 3 years of existing digital publishing methods and tools.  
-Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, and implement multiple projects.  
-Demonstrated communication and problem-solving skills.  
-Prior experience working with monograph or journal publishing.  
-Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.  
-Previous editorial experience.

-Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, communication and project management skills.  
-Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality public service within a flexible and continually-evolving academic environment.  
-Demonstrated commitment to enhancing service through teamwork and responsiveness to faculty, students, and colleagues.  
-Relevant experience with publishing platforms.  
-Familiarity with e-publishing tools and accessibility standards.  
-Previous copy editing or proofreading experience.  
-Previous experience working with undergraduate employees and student interns.  
-Experience with a variety of software applications and publishing tools.  
-Previous academic library experience.
