Subject: [NDSA-ALL] Update on NDSA Host Request for Proposals

Dear NDSA members,

Earlier this year the NDSA coordinating committee announced it was seeking proposals from organizations interested in being the next secretariate and host of the NDSA to help administer and lead the Alliance over the next four years. At the June 30th deadline we received proposals from five institutions interested in being the next host of the NDSA.

Throughout the next month a subgroup of the CC will begin a conversation with each candidate host organization about shared goals and benefits, and their vision for the NDSA in its next phase. These interviews will be summarized and shared with the CC and Working Group Chairs. WG chairs will gather input from working members, and an external group of advisors, which include Josh Greenberg from the Sloan Foundation, Don Waters from the Mellon Foundation, Vicki Reich from LOCKSS and a representative from the Library of Congress, who will contribute their perspectives. After reviewing the interview summaries and views of the advisors and Working Groups, the CC will make a recommendation to the membership for the next NDSA host organization. We are hoping to have this recommendation ready for the membership in early September of 2015 and have it coincide with the presentation of a new membership agreement from the new host.

If you questions or concerns about this process, please contact Micah Altman, chair of the CC at [log in to unmask].
