The University of Surrey is looking for someone to join the Library and
Learning Services "Open Research" group to take a lead in establishing and
then leading our research data management and preservation service. This
important role will offer consultation and technical support to researchers
planning, managing, recording, publishing and preserving their datasets
throughout the life of the data.

  
The Open Research group brings together this RDM and preservation expertise
with the team that supports the institutional research repository, e-theses,
bibliometrics and Copyright/licencing issues. As the senior research data
expert you will work with the e-Strategy & Resources Manager in developing and
growing a support service following on from an initial research data project.
You will work with academic and professional support services across the
University to ensure that we support the multi-disciplinary and research
intensive institution.

  
You should be able to work in a flexible and self-directed manner and be able
to juggle multiple activities at any time. Being able to demonstrate the
ability to meet deadlines is also important.

  
This post will manage a team member and previous line management experience is
desirable.

  
You should have a degree (or equivalent qualification or relevant professional
experience) and experience of team working in a busy library, IT or research
support service environment. You will have the ability to communicate detailed
and complex information effectively with a wide range of people using a
multiple number of channels. Experience of working in data management or
liaison work in an academic or research institution would be advantageous.
