Head of Systems Development

Old Dominion University Libraries have begun implementing a transformative 
future plan and we are seeking a dynamic technology leader to assist in 
the achievement of this new vision. As a member of the Libraries' 
Management Team, the successful candidate will collaboratively lead 
projects and initiatives for all aspects of library technology. Working 
closely with the Libraries' staff, campus IT, and other campus partners, 
this person will adopt, adapt, buy, or create the technology 
infrastructure necessary to meet current and future needs of faculty, 
students, and Libraries' personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Master's Degree in appropriate field, knowledge and understanding of the 
key issues and trends in digital initiatives and information technology, 
academic libraries, and higher education. Excellent analytic, creative, 
and innovative problem-solving abilities. Excellent oral, written and 
interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of web technologies and 
standards, programming, and scripting languages. Familiarity with server 
and workstation administration; familiarity with managing an Integrated 
Library System. Ability to administer a SharePoint site. Have supervisory 
experience. Progressively responsible experience with information 
technology in a library. Project management experience. Strong commitment 
to user-centered services and service excellence to all constituencies. 
Experience in building and sustaining effective interpersonal relations 
with library staff, campus administrators, faculty and students.

Preferred:
An ALA accredited MLS degree; ability to work both as a team member and 
independently. Knowledge of service management structures. Demonstrated 
proficiency in a variety of web scripting languages, relational database 
applications and systems analysis. Experience with Innovative Interfaces' 
Millennium or Sierra system. Experience in leading the conceptual design, 
development, and implementation of next-generation digital initiatives and 
information technology services. Experience in managing various 
technologies such as application systems, electronic resources, server 
infrastructure, network infrastructure, public/staff computing areas, 
digital collections. Experience coordinating and conducting technology 
training. Experience administering a SharePoint site.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Minimum $65,000. Excellent benefits package.
