New role for a digitally fluent team member to lead the Library’s effort to create and share digital content. Responsible for establishing new and refining existing practices in identifying, organizing and providing access to the digital aspects of our collections. Will provide leadership in clarifying the purpose and use of digital content within the context of all of CLP’s collections. Will work with Collections, Public Services and internal support departments to describe and communicate the use and scope of digital content to staff and external audiences.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manages and maintains existing and new digitization projects with an eye toward crafting functional and memorable user experiences;
• Evaluates current and potential software platforms and interfaces;
• Engages community stakeholders about digital collections, providing instruction and promotion of library services;
• Develops new digital collections, involving both digitized archival content as well as new collections of born-digital content;
• Works with Department of Digital Strategy to explore new applications of digital library materials and catalyzing creative uses of library collections;
• Pursues new partnerships and funding opportunities for growing and sustaining digital library collections;
• Provides specialized assistance to the public on local history and digital library collections.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Ability to manage projects and create digitization workflows;
• Familiarity with digital content management platforms (such as Omeka, DSpace, Hydra and/or ContentDM), and an ability to select an effective platform based on need;
• Understanding of database programming languages in line with preferred platform;
• Comfortable with metadata standards (Dublin Core, MARC, etc) used in digital collections;
• Understands API development requirements and can identify linkages between datasets;
• Comfort in building new relationships with stakeholders and speaking in public;
• Willingness to experiment with creative applications of digital collections;
• Has a love of learning and an eagerness to collaborate;
• ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science preferred; Master’s degree in related field or other combination of education and experience in archives or cultural heritage organizations will be considered;
• Minimum 2 years of experience with digital curation projects (portfolio of past work recommended) in libraries, museums, or other cultural institutions;
• Minimum 2 years of public-facing library service, user experience, or technical support;
• Valid PA Driver’s License and the ability to travel locally and/or regionally as required;
• PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Record Check and Mandated Reporter Training required upon offer of employment.

Work Hours: Full-time, salaried employee; base schedule of 37.5 hours/week with additional hours as necessary.

Salary: $45,000 - $65,000
