Dear Colleagues,

The National Digital Stewardship Alliance Coordinating Committee is very happy to announce that the Digital Library Federation, a program of the Center for Library and Information Resources, has been selected as the next institutional home for the NDSA. A full transition is expected to happen by January 1, 2015. The core values of Stewardship, Collaboration, Inclusiveness, and Exchange will remain unchanged while the activities of the Working Groups and other teams will be supported through more flexible and streamlined logistic and coordination services. Working Group co-chairs will meet with DLF leaders this week to discuss the details each of their groups and their plans for the next year. The CC and Library of Congress staff will be working through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition of all NDSA assets and documentation to the DLF. 

Action will be required by each member when DLF sends out a revised membership agreement. This is expected to happen in November and we’ll send out more information about this process then. As always, there will be no membership fee. 

We are looking forward to working with DLF to continue to build on the first five years of NDSA achievement and leadership, and we are excited to continue to work with all of the members to advance the capacity to preserve our nation's digital resources for the benefit of present and future generations. 

A public announcement of this selection will be made later in October with a press-release. I would like to thank the Coordinating Committee and our External Advisors for their input through this process. Thanks is also due to all of the organization who were interested in taking on the NDSA host role. The depth and range of support shown to the NDSA from these organizations made the selection process very competitive. I would also like to thank all NDSA members for your patience through the transition process. If you have any questions, I am always happy to answer them.
