The event will take place at the Czech National Library of Technology in the city, and will feature a range of presentations and social events. This half day block of training sessions will focus on an introduction to the field and needs in digital preservation, and give attendees a foundation of concepts, terminology, standards and tools used broadly in the field. This day of “Digital Preservation 101” is open to practitioners of all levels, but will be targeted specifically for those looking to gain exposure to the field. This workshop will begin with an introduction to why PDF/A is used and the importance of validation. We will have a web demonstrator with user interface that participants can try out. We will then be look at metadata extraction, focusing on what the data means and why it is important in a library or archive environment. The second part of the workshop will focus on how the software has been put together to produce a reliable web services that can be used in your institution.
