Principal Application Administrator, Enterprise Scholarly Systems

Indiana University is seeking a skilled IT professional to work as part of a
new Enterprise Scholarly Systems team in IU's central IT organization,
University Information Technology Services. This team will be focused on
collaborating with the Libraries at IU Bloomington and IUPUI to build and
support a new enterprise-level repository and scholarly information management
environment for the university, based primarily on Fedora and Hydra
technologies.

  
**Department Information:**  
  
The Enterprise Scholarly Systems (ESS) is a new team based in UITS Enterprise
Systems to support production digital scholarly information management
services for use across the University, to be developed and supported in
collaboration with IUB Libraries and IUPUI University Library. Primary
stakeholders for these services will be libraries, archives, museums, and the
IU Office of Scholarly Publishing, but faculty and academic school- and
department-based projects may also make use of these services to create and
manage digital content of long-term value in research, teaching, and learning.

  
**Job Summary:**  
  
Performs analysis, administration, and support of applications and vended
products used by Enterprise Software (ES) at Indiana University while working
independently as a senior member of the team. Responsible for collaborating,
leading and ensuring the successful delivery of critical components of ES
service used by the facility, staff and students at all campuses of Indiana
University. Ensures established standards are followed and that the latest
versions of Software infrastructure are being used, as well as ensuring the
applications take advantage of emerging functionality that increase technical
productivity or provides value added services.

  
Works as an effective leader of the team who identifies and provides training,
guidance, and mentoring to less experienced staff and for the development of a
team member. Demonstrates a high degree of self-initiative and commitment to
expand skills and expertise through a variety of methods, including self-
study, working/mentoring with colleagues, and both internal and external
training.

  
Manages customer requests and work queues; maintains task documentation; and
leads and makes programming changes necessary for upgrading, releasing and
customization of client applications. Collaborates with functional business
clients and other teams with the central information technology organization.
Develops and maintains excellent relationships with all of these groups
through careful consideration and thorough communication on analysis of
application projects.

  
**Required Qualifications:**  
  
**REQUIRED: **Bachelor's degree in computer science, business systems, or related discipline and five years of experience working in the areas of customer support, application support, or documentation with some supervisor experience and programming experience.  
  
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

  
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including an
extraordinary customer service attitude with the ability to work with a
variety of people. Willingness to perform tasks in a complex, team-oriented
environment. Ability to train, mentor, and guide team members while assisting
manager with work assignment to team members.

  
Problem solving skills that include creatively identifying complex problems
and finding solutions quickly and accurately. Attention to detail in
communicating technical issues and implementing solutions, and mental
discipline in resolving software problems. Capability to change priorities as
a project expands or a project needs change.
