The University of Texas Libraries seeks a Senior Software
Developer/Analyst in Technology Innovation & Strategy (TIS) to provide
leadership and innovative software development services in support of UT
Libraries digital initiatives. As part of the flagship
institution of the University of Texas System, the University of Texas
Libraries supports diverse undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral academic
programs with varying teaching and research needs. TIS
works with tools such as Drupal, Islandora, and Fedora Commons and programming
languages including PHP, Java, and Ruby to support the efforts of the
University Libraries. In addition to managing the
Libraries' web presence, this team is responsible for supporting projects such
as - the [Virtual Landscapes of
Texas](http://www.lib.utexas.edu/books/landscapes/), the [Human Rights
Documentation Initiative](http://www.lib.utexas.edu/hrdi), [Texas Archival
Resources Online](http://www.lib.utexas.edu/taro/), [Primeros
Libros](http://primeroslibros.org/), and the [Latin American Digital
Initiatives](http://ladi.lib.utexas.edu/).

  
This position offers the opportunity to explore creative, strategic approaches
to supporting digital library development and works closely with team members
from across the Libraries and the University to support the research
community's use of the Libraries' digital collections in their
scholarship. Primary responsibilities include supervising
Library Software Development staff, performing software development and
analysis- including testing, debugging, and training, performing systems
design, analysis, and integration with Libraries' infrastructure, and
conducting project and status meetings with Libraries' staff and the campus
community.

  
The Senior Software Developer/Analyst participates in the management of TIS
and strategic planning related to digital library efforts.
Active participation in UT Libraries and other local committee and project
team efforts, as well as relevant professional organizations, open source
development efforts, and professional development activities, is
expected. The position reports to the Assistant Director,
Technology Innovation & Strategy and currently supervises three FTE Software
Developer Analysts/ Software Engineers, as well as contract and student staff
as required. The TIS department is located in the Perry-CastaƱeda Library
(PCL), the main library of the [University of Texas
