Hi Katie, We make use of DSpace at our institution. It works pretty well, though you do need to have some amount of IT support since it is open source. That said a lot of what you go with depends on what is going in. If it is largely text materials then DSpace or Digital Commons are both good options. If you are going to be putting in non-text materials like data sets then seriously consider Fedora Hydra, actually you might want to just look into this one anyway since a lot of places are moving to Fedora.
