New York University Libraries seek a skilled and knowledgeable professional
for a Workflow Automation Analyst position in Knowledge Access and Resource
Services (KARMS). The successful candidate will play a
pivotal role in the management of batch cataloging program(s). The incumbent
will implement, document, evaluate, routinize, and decentralize automated
processing workflows; analyze and maintain scripts used in metadata
processing, transformation, and ingest; and collaborate with colleagues to
optimize integrated workflows. They will assist in the execution of various
projects that will analyze and quantify risk, develop improvements and sustain
efficiency and effectiveness across different functional areas. In
consultation with KARMS department heads and supervisors, they will implement
a coordinated strategy for NYU Libraries print and electronic Collections
including overseeing catalog record supply chains, multiple processing
streams, and knowledge base management activities. They will also coordinate
the distribution of workflows for metadata management to Resource Management
staff and work on a wide variety of projects that support business needs and
improvement opportunities.

  
**Qualifications/Required Education:** Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, library science, or related field.  
  
**Required Experience: **Minimum of 3 years related experience or combination of education and experience; demonstrated experience in developing and implementing complex workflows; Experience in cataloging and bibliographic control; experience performing data analysis on a variety of data formats  
  
**Preferred Experience:** Experience with one or more of the suite of Ex Libris products (Primo, Aleph, Metalib, SFX); in-depth experience with library discovery and access systems in an academic or research library; experience writing scripts in common scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, bash, Python, or Ruby; experience with XML and XSLT; experience working in Linux/Unix server environments.  
  
**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**(include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.): Knowledge of database architecture and SQL; Knowledge of MARC, AACR2, and RDA; excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and establish appropriate priorities; ability to work productively on cross departmental teams. Demonstrated ability to document workflows and teach others  
  
**Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**(include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.): Knowledge of non-MARC metadata standards, such as Dublin Core, MODS, ONIX; knowledge of library technology protocols such as OAI-PMH, Z39.5-, and SRU/W; experience with Lucene/Solr.
