About the Position:

  
This is an Archives Technician, GS-1421-07 position with the US Army War
College, Army Heritage and Education Center, Carlisle Barracks, New
Cumberland, PA 17013.

Duties

Serve as Archives Technician performing non-professional technical work
primarily in acquiring, arranging, and describing archives, non-current
records and related material. Participate in the acquisition, accessioning,
maintenance, preservation, and retrieval of historical information in various
media. Organizes and inventories contents of archival collections. Places
archival materials in physical storage to insure appropriate arrangement,
identification and ease of retrieval, to include indexing and cross-
referencing. Performs periodic reviews to insure that archival materials have
been returned to physical storage in proper order. Prepares finding aids for
archival material. Obtains, moves, boxes, labels and files holdings within
prescribed formats and established processes. Uses databases and word
processing automation in accomplishment of duties.

  
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described
below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

  
Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience,
including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace
Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;
religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for
all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  
  
  
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one
year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized
experience is defined as: at least one year of specialized experience
equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service which includes: 1)
Arranging and describing archive records based on archival guidelines, 2)
preparing finding aids for archival materials, or 3) maintaining
accountability of materials to include their proper order.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required
experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet
the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of

One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.

May be required to work infrequent evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Moving expenses are not authorized.
