User Experience Web Developer
Claremont Colleges

The Claremont Colleges, a distinguished consortium of five undergraduate
liberal arts colleges and two graduate institutions located just east of Los
Angeles, California seek an energetic, innovative, and expert UX Web Developer
for The Claremont Colleges Library.

  
Reporting to the Director of User Services and Resource Sharing (USERS), the
developer will engage in the virtual and physical user interface (UI)
environments of the library. The incumbent will fully integrate a high quality
user experience design that supports the efforts of the library to serve the
educational and information needs of faculty, students, and staff of The
Claremont Colleges. The position will interact extensively with members of the
library's leadership team, the User Experience Manager, and with other
librarians and staff to support the organization's digital tools and
resources.

  
Primary responsibilities will include leading the library's web team;
identifying and recommending best practices in user experience; collaborating
with the Communications and Programs Coordinator to provide creative,
welcoming messaging, and administrative support to library publications,
exhibitions, programs, events (PEPE); and coordinating USERS division team
members to support library services, such as the reservation system and
digital signage. The position will support the library's strategic initiatives
by providing strong user-focused customer service through our digital
presence. The web developer also collaborates closely with the Student Worker
Program Coordinator as well as with the User Services Coordinator and User
Experience Ambassadors to support the training, engagement, and customer-
service orientation of other USERS staff members and student workers.

  
Requirements include a Bachelor's degree with a focus on interactive design,
graphic design, web development, informatics, human-computer interaction, or a
related field. We also require one year of web or UI development experience
and two years in a similar position or equivalent engagement in front-end web
development or user experience design.
