Library Technology Specialist Michigan Technological University Houghton Michigan Technological University's Van Pelt and Opie Library welcomes applications for the position of Library Technology Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide variety of library technologies to provide exceptional service to the various constituents that utilize the library's technology related services. Emphasis is placed on the management, documentation, training, and implementation of the library's various software and hardware systems. **Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)** 1. Support, troubleshoot and maintain library sponsored in-building computing including office staff computers and peripherals, library conference rooms, library instruction rooms and common access technology including a wide variety of graphic reproduction technologies. 2. Train staff and student assistants to provide support for common access technologies (e.g. scanners, printers, study room technology, instructional technology, productivity tools) 3. Assist faculty, staff and graduate students with specialized software (e.g., Google Earth, nVivo, Kurzweil) 4. Analyze user access problems and escalate when appropriate 5. Support technology for library events 6. Document and maintain support contracts and maintenance schedules 7. Maintain inventories of library technology 8. Proactively communicate with campus IT to assess and ensure timely progress toward project goals 9. Document procedures for common access technologies 10. Support installation and upgrades of the library's technology enabled spaces 11. Manage 3D printing station(s) 12. Prepare technology orders 13. Coordinate network activations 14. Provide solutions for digital signage 15. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work. Provide leadership to foster a culture of safety; promote safety through actions, communication and training 16.
