The College of Wooster Libraries seek an engaged and user-centered
professional for the newly created position of Head of Access
Services. Reporting to the Director of Libraries, the Head
of Access Services oversees and manages circulation, reserves, interlibrary
loan, media, and associated staff (i.e. the Evening Circulation Supervisor,
Interlibrary Loan Associate, and student employees). The
incumbent will utilize strong managerial skills and fluency with library
systems to maintain high quality services for the students, faculty, and staff
of the College.

  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  
  
Coordinates the operations of public circulation desks, including student
staffing and hours.

  
Manages the patron database and the circulation of print, electronic and
reserve items.

  
Directly supervises one full-time salaried evening supervisor, one half-time
interlibrary loan associate, and 30+ student employees.

  
Hires, trains, and evaluates student staff; establishes work priorities,
implements workflows, approves time entries, and resolves problems.

  
Develops policies, procedures, and materials for the current and future needs
of the department.

  
Oversees the daytime operation of interlibrary loan services; serves as the
named contact for consortial delivery and questions and concerns regarding
materials.

  
Manages the media collection and related services; coordinates film viewings,
media reserves, inventory, and maintenance.

  
Researches and contributes to copyright compliance policies for print,
electronic and media services.

  
Facilitates opening and closing procedures for the Libraries, as well as
special event weekend hours and coverage.

  
Represents Access Services on appropriate library, campus, and consortial
committees.

  
Compiles statistics for off-campus surveys, in-house annual reports, and
consortial and statewide reports.

  
May be required to work a flexible schedule to provide department supervision
for library-related special events, illnesses, and vacations.

  
Attends/participates in workshops, meetings and listservs related to Access
Services.

  
Assists other Library personnel on library-wide projects.

  
Performs other duties as assigned.

  
  
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check
and drug test.
