**Job Description**  
The Emory Libraries is growing its Web and User Experience Strategies team
(WUXS). Part of Library Technology and Digital Strategies, WUXS emphasizes
user experience design practices and is responsible for designing, developing,
and maintaining library websites and application interfaces. WUXS also
consults with other departments on content strategy, information architecture,
research, and design.

  
Reporting to the Lead Web Developer, the Sr. Web Developer will work with the
Lead Web Developer to plan the architecture and develop the content types and
templates in the CMS and will assist the User Experience Librarian in
translating research findings into information architecture, UI design
patterns, and content models.

  
•Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to design interfaces and
develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.

•Work with the team to deliver interfaces that support the needs of the
libraries and the research community.

•Create and maintain documentation.

•Maintain library websites and pages and related application interfaces.

•Assist with user experience research and design activities, plan for and help
coordinate iterative testing, and incorporate findings into website and
application interface designs.

•Modify third party interfaces and update legacy interfaces as needed.

•Assists with coordinating and executing changes to library websites and
application interfaces. Communicate about those changes with LTDS teams,
librarians, Campus Community Relations, and others.

•Work collaboratively across university departments to align library website
and application styles, branding, and best practices.

  
**Preferred**  
•Strong understanding and experience with semantic HTML5 markup.

•Strong understanding and experience with JavaScript and jQuery.

•Experience with XHTML, XML.

•Experience working with RESTful APIs.

•Familiarity with an additional server-side language and web development
framework such as PHP/Laravel, Ruby/Ruby on Rails, or Python/Django.

•Familiarity with Sass.

•Strong understanding of progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, mobile
first, and other design strategies.

•Strong understanding of the principles of universal design and accessibility
standards and their proper implementation.

•Understanding and experience with user experience and interaction design.
