I hope everyone is having a good Monday! This weekend, I visited the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Which means that ever since, I've been thinking about pandas constantly. "What is Tian Tian eating right now?" I've asked myself every few hours. And "Do the pandas have official Twitter accounts?"(The answer to that is, disappointingly, no. Though they do have their own livestreams!)
Zoos might be the best kind of cultural heritage institutions. (But at least until the pandas start tweeting, digital libraries are still in the running, I suppose.)
Speaking of which, this week's diglib jobs can be found below:
- UNC Chapel Hill's Health Science Library is looking for a Health Information Technology Librarian. The librarian will play a key role in investigating current and future needs within health affairs, taking stock of current services, and finding new ways to assist the library's partners in the health IT fields.
- UNC Libraries also need someone to lead their Software Development department! This person will lead two teams in helping to create a flexible and scalable technology infrastructure for library services.
- The Indiana University Libraries are hiring a Scholarly Communicaton Librarian who will provide operational oversight for specific areas of the Library's scholarly communications program. The librarian will be liason to the IU Office of Scholarly Publishing and will also educate/advise the campus on issues of open access, among other duties.
- MIT is seeking a Software Engineer who will be responsible for application development and analytical work, from requirements gathering to design, implementation and maintenance of tools, services, and web applications.
