Dear friends — I’m pleased to announce that, beginning in January, five new members will join our distinguished Digital Library Federation Advisory Committee:

https://www.diglib.org/members/advisory/

They are:

Andy Ashton, Director of Vassar College Libraries
Jill Cousins, Executive Director of Europeana
Buhle Mbambo-Thata, outgoing Executive Director of Library Services for the University of South Africa
Shilpa Rele, Digital Program Librarian at Loyola Marymount University
and Yasmeen Shorish, Data Services Coordinator at James Madison University

Andy, Jill, Buhle, Shilpa, and Yasmeen will collaborate with the following continuing members in providing counsel to DLF on activites, partnerships, and strategic direction:

Dan Cohen, Director of the Digital Public Library of America
Max Marmor, President of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation
Trevor Muñoz, Associate Director of MITH and Assistant Dean for Digital Humanities Research, University of Maryland Libraries
Stephen Rhind-Tutt, President of Alexander Street Press
Bess Sadler, Manager for Application Development in Digital Library Systems, Stanford University Library
Sarah Shreeves, Associate Dean for Digital Strategies, University of Miami Libraries
Jennifer Vinopal, Associate Director for Information Technology, Ohio State University Libraries

The committee will be chaired by Dan Cohen. He takes on this role from past DLF Advisory chair David Rumsey, President of Cartography Associates.

Also rotating off the committee are Winston Tabb, Sheridan Dean of University Libraries and Museums at the Johns Hopkins University, and Patricia Hswe, Program Officer for Scholarly Communications at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

On behalf of all of us at the DLF, I’d like to thank David, Patricia, and Winston for their energy, wisdom, and service — and to welcome our new Advisory Committee members! It will be a pleasure and privilege to work with them, on behalf of all of you in the wider DLF community.

As always, please feel free to write to me directly, or to members of our little team, with questions or suggestions about how we can serve you better: https://www.diglib.org/about/staff/

— and if you are considering ways to use DLF as a platform to advance your own projects and goals, we invite you to review our new Organizers’ Toolkit, and get in touch: https://wiki.diglib.org/

All best wishes for the holiday season,
Bethany
