It occurred to me while I was watching Star Trek TNG over Thanksgiving break that the Digital Library Federation could, as an alternative to ‘DLF’, be called ‘the Federation’ for short.
In the intervening weeks, I’ve had to stop myself from rewriting the show’s intro to involve GLAMs (“Linked open data: the final frontier.”) and starting every tweet with “Officer’s log: stardate…”
Anyways, all that’s just to say you should be relieved the Digest hasn’t been co-opted by Starfleet-esque branding, because that almost happened. This week’s jobs:
- The University of Michigan Library is seeking an Applications Programmer to join a team of programmers, librarians, and designers working on major initiatives, including development of a system architecture to serve the U-M Library and campus based on Hydra and Fedora.
- Amherst College is hiring a Digitization Coordinator to coordinate digital reformatting operations aimed at preserving and improving access to library and archival collections in all formats.
- Head of Library Technology Services at UMass Amherst Libraries will be responsible for providing vision and leadership for infrastructure and support services for the Library’s technology ecosystem; digital library development; enterprise systems; web infrastructure; teaching and learning technologies; administrative applications and platforms; and archive and preservation systems.
- Stanford Libraries' Digitization Services Manager will serve as the portfolio manager for all projects and services offered by the Stanford University Libraries digitization programs.
- A second position at the Stanford Libraries, Repository Specialist (Data Operations), supports the current and evolving operations of the Stanford Digital Repository.
- Finally, there are a number of CLIR Post-Doctoral Fellowships open to applicants right now. These one- to two-year positions are for recent Ph.D. graduates from any discipline. Please pass them on to any eligible individuals you may know!
