Years ago a dear library colleague suffered from and died of ALS at a time when assistive technologies were just starting to be enabled. We are now working on a project in collaboration with the MIT hacking medicine team and the American ALS Association, aimed to connect students to the world of assistive technology. This is designed to be a one-year project that includes a 2-day hackathon and a follow-on program, in which the students will receive funding and mentorship that will enable them to develop their ideas into prototype. > The Hackathon is scheduled to take place on 6-7 October 2017, at Microsoft New England R&D Centre in Cambridge MA.
