I’m writing to share a few resources and actions related to the work of our DLF interest group on Government Data Transparency and Accountability<https://www.diglib.org/groups/transparency-accountability/> These links all relate to movement by the Government Publishing Office and Committee on House Administration toward a possible revision of Title 44 of the U.S. Code<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_44_of_the_United_States_Code>.

  * "Title 44 and the Uncertain Future of Free Public Access to Government Info in the US”: Rachel Mattson summarizes a presentation by Jim Jacobs to the interest group — and provides a link to an audio recording. https://www.diglib.org/archives/14551/ (Thanks to Jim, Rachel, Brandon, and all who made this possible!)
  * “DLF on Privacy, Preservation, & Free Access to Government Info via Title 44:” text of a letter DLF sent to various congressional committees and staffers, advisory groups, and GPO leadership: https://www.diglib.org/archives/14576/. Recommendations made by DLF, Stanford, MIT, the UC system, and Harvard are all in line with the principles outlined in Jim’s talk and at FreeGovInfo.info<http://freegovinfo.info/>.
  * "Protect the public right to government information: help preserve and expand Title 44:” a petition you can circulate and sign, currently at 767 signatures: http://bit.ly/2wPBwl8
  * "Transforming GPO for the 21st Century and Beyond: Part 3 – Federal Depository Library Program:” notice of an upcoming Committee on House Administration hearing, scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10:15am. (Live-streaming possible; no word yet on witnesses.) https://cha.house.gov/hearing/hearing-transforming-gpo-21st-century-and-beyond-part-3-–-federal-depository-library-program<https://cha.house.gov/hearing/hearing-transforming-gpo-21st-century-and-beyond-part-3-%E2%80%93-federal-depository-library-program>
