I’m writing to share the DLF’s statement on the FCC proposal to weaken net neutrality as well as a few resources:

 

On November 21, 2017, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) unveiled its proposal to roll back regulations that require internet service providers to treat all data and services online equally. The Digital Library Federation strongly opposes any plan to repeal or weaken net neutrality rules. Democratic access to and free and open distribution of information is vital to us all. Echoing our statement in February, 2017, we “stand with our community in determined opposition to any political policies, actions, and divisive ideologies… that contravene our shared, core values of enlightened liberalism and scientific understanding, and threaten our mission to create just, equitable, and sustained global cultures of accessible information.”

 

The FCC will vote on net neutrality regulations in just two weeks. Please contact your representatives and urge them to uphold net neutrality.
