Weave: Journal of Library User Experience (http://weaveux.org) seeks a creative, collegial individual to serve as Editor-in-Chief, leading our editorial staff. This is a remote position which, like all positions at Weave, is volunteer.

Weave is a peer-reviewed, open access, web-based publication with an interest in facilitating, broadening, and documenting the conversation around what, why, and how user experience design informs both theory and practice within libraries and related fields. [More about our editorial philosophy<https://www.weaveux.org/about.html#philosophy>.] Our aspiration is to engage with UX colleagues and create an authentic dialogue around these topics, while exploring varying modes of publication, narrative, and scholarship.

You'll be responsible for organizing and finalizing each issue of the journal. You will work with three other editors on shaping each issue, including peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed content. You'll also make sure authors have the support they need to develop useful, well-written articles that contribute to the profession, which will sometimes include mentoring and iterative editing. You can see the content from the first seven issues of our journal at [http://weaveux.org].
You'll work with our publisher, Michigan Publishing, to produce each issue and partner on new publishing initiatives. You'll also partner with other organizations to create content and opportunities for Weave readers. In the past, Weave editors have partnered with the American Library Association eLearning Team and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA).
As the Editor-in-Chief, you'll spend at least 10 hours a month on the journal, working collaboratively with the editors and board to set the vision and strategic direction for the journal. Your duties will include:

* Working closely with the editorial staff and Board chair to coordinate regular meetings of the Editors, and of the Board, to discuss issues, plans, and other business relating to the publication
* Liaising between the editors and the board, and editors and the publisher, to ensure alignment between strategic, production, and editorial goals
* Managing day-to-day production issues for the journal (e.g., monitoring the budget; administration tasks for Submittable, our submission management editor; some HTML/CSS editing)
* Soliciting, reading, and offering feedback on pitches, and reading and providing feedback on author drafts
* Collaborating with Weave's editors and editorial board on fundraising to cover the journal's operating expenses, and on creating and fostering strategic partnerships with other organizations
All editors work on deadline. Our busiest times are three months before each issue is published, as we get everything ready for copy editing and production. (We publish issues in early April and October.)

Weave values diversity, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Weave believes that user experience must be inclusive of the experience of all users, and we are actively interested in building an editorial staff that reflects the diversity of the library community and our users. To this end we specifically encourage applications from people of color, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and people who identify as differently-abled. Your perspective will enrich our journal.
Interested? Tell us about your writing and editing experience and show us your passion for readable and creative prose. If you're familiar with library and user experience terminology, that's great, but not required.
To apply, send a cover letter, CV, and an academic writing sample to the search committee at [[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>] by January 15, 2018.
Cheers,
-The WeaveUX Editorial Board
