*Dear Colleagues,[Please excuse cross-posting.]You are invited to take a survey regarding the professional development of early career academic librarians who are not in a tenure track. This study intends to gather data about early career librarians in non-tenure track positions, regarding their involvement in professional activities and scholarship. Our goal is to expose challenges that non-tenure track, academic librarians face, and propose a recasting of academic librarian identity outside of the tenure process. We anticipate that will bring to light a little-studied issue in academic librarianship and provide support for further discussion of this issue. Please consider filling out this survey if you: 1. Hold an MLIS or equivalent degree, AND2. Completed all requirements for the MLIS or equivalent degree between June 1, 2011 and June 1, 2017, AND3. Are employed full-time (35+ hours) in a non-tenure track professional-level position at an academic library, AND4. Reside and work in the United States or one of its affiliated territoriesThis study is conducted by Jared Rex (Music Librarian), Jennifer Whelan, (Coordinator of Research, Teaching, and Instruction), and Laura Wilson, (Outreach Librarian), of College of the Holy Cross. Participation in this study is completely voluntary. We will not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information. All data collected will be stored in a secured manner and will not be accessible to anyone outside of the immediate research team. There are no known risks associated with participating in this study other than the time required to complete the survey. Participants may experience minor psychological stress and discomfort while answering sensitive questions about their experiences with professional development and/or professional supports that have or have not been available to them.
