Technical Services Assessment: Tools and Techniques That Demonstrate Value

A 2018 ALCTS Preconference

Co-sponsored by ALCTS Cataloging and Metadata Management Continuing Education Committee (CaMMS CE)

Technical Services librarians and professionals collect a wide variety of data and statistics in the course of our work, but how do we turn this data into meaningful products for ourselves and our stakeholders? Increasingly, we use a wide variety of tools and techniques to measure and demonstrate the value of our services and operations to the library and its community of users. It is critical that we thoughtfully collect, format, and present data and information in a way that allows us to both leverage this data to inform internal decisions as well as highlight key achievements and successes to those outside of the department.

Participants will:

  * Gain a better understanding of how assessment can inform decisions.

  * Be able to present data in a way that is meaningful to your target audience.

  * Integrate assessment into everyday activities.

  * Take home specific examples of assessment techniques and tools other libraries are using.

**This preconference provides attendees with a hands-on assessment activity. We encourage attendees to bring their laptops or tablets to get the full experience!**

This is a full-day event, on Friday June 22nd. Full schedule, pricing, and registration available at: http://www.ala.org/alcts/events/ac/2018/assessment
