The DLF Assessment Interest Group’s committee for Cost Assessment is looking for 10 volunteers to participate in remote user testing and user interviews for the Digitization Cost Calculator project. While we welcome all volunteers, we hope to find folks who might theoretically use a tool like the Digitization Cost Calculator<http://dashboard.diglib.org/> in real life (such as people working in digital libraries, project managers, grant authors, folks in digital production centers, etc.) Or, if you happen to be a user interface design person, we’d love to have you volunteer as well.

In return for your participation, we will send you an imaginary box of eternal gratitude and put your name on a thank you slide during our DLF conference presentation. Wow, what an amazing deal!

DETAILS

When? End of July through August

How long? Only 30 minutes of your time!

Where? Online. We’ll use Webex to share screens and you can call in on your phone or computer.

Who should volunteer?

  * If you’d like to help us out by participating in a user interview, we’re looking for people who have either used the Digitization Cost Calculator previously or who are willing to mess around with it for 15-20 minutes before their interview.

  * If you’d like to volunteer to do user testing, we prefer folks who have never used the Digitization Cost Calculator before and would ask that you NOT explore the tool ahead of time. Come to us as a blank slate!

What are you asking us to do?

  * If you are participating in a user interview, we’ll ask you questions like “what’s confusing about this tool?” “What other stuff would you like this tool to be able to do?” and have a short conversation with you about the tool.

  * If you are participating in user testing, we are going to give you a few “tasks” to perform using the tool, and one of us will watch you as you work your way through them. We are not testing you, we are testing the tool! There is no right or wrong way to perform a task. Basically, we’ll be asking you to try using the tool, and by watching you do so we will determine ways in which the tool is confusing to first time users.

This sure sounds like a great way to contribute to the DLF community!
