WOMEN@MIT PROJECT ARCHIVIST, at the MIT Libraries, will further the MIT Libraries’ archival initiative focused on documenting women at MIT in order to expand and enhance the existing record of MIT history. The project scope includes documenting the lives of women professors and researchers, the student experience of women, experiences of women of color, and MIT’s efforts to achieve gender equity.

The Project Archivist will build on the groundwork of the initiative’s initial year by assuming responsibility for the acquisition, processing, description, curation, and management of Women@MIT archival and manuscript collections. They will be part of the Institute Archives and Special Collections (IASC) collections team and work with colleagues to ensure coordination of collections work and access to materials and information. In addition to new collections and material, they will also enhance description and access to collections already at IASC and liaise with subject specialists and collection strategists in this documentation initiative.
