Hi all,

On Friday, August 31, San Jose State University hosted the third Code4Lib
Northern California regional meeting at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library.
We had almost 40 participants from 16 institutions, including software
developers, project managers, librarians, architects, and operations,
ranging from recent hires to people with 30+ years of experience in the
field.

We held lightning talks in the morning, where we heard 11 presentations
including:

   - Testing AWS API gateway endpoints with Postman
   - Using the EasyBib API to improve EDS citations for a local catalog
   - A demo of WorldCat Knowledge Base API and Gochiso to find open access
   - RIALTO Project Architecture
   - Controlled Metadata Entry Using Google Sheets
   - IIIF Content Search demo
   - Communication Tactics for Difficult Technology Transitions

In the afternoon, we had breakout sessions that discussed:

   - Tableau Public for Library Data Visualizations
   - Using Agile Sprints to Increase Productivity
   - An AWS Walkthrough
   - API development

We also discussed future events for this group. There was a ton of interest
about future Bay Area meetups and a California-wide regional Code4Lib
meeting in 2019. We’re interested in holding some project-based events as a
continuation of some of our breakouts. Keep an eye on this forum and on the
Slack channel for more information.

If you’re interested in getting involved with our regional group, you can
find us on the Code4Lib Slack #norcal channel; #c4lnorcal on Twitter; or

.

Thanks,

Code4Lib NorCal Organizers
