When I first heard about the popularity of
ASMR videos, I thought they were the strangest thing. People just…listen to whispers for ten minutes straight? Or watch slime being kneaded? Or people eating? And it helps them relax?
I thought it was pretty bizarre. But then a certain stormy political climate moved in over the continental US a couple years ago, and I started finding myself clicking on ASMR-esque videos more frequently
when they popped up in my feeds. “Why yes, I would like to stare at something
mindless and
beautiful for ten minutes straight,” I found myself thinking.
