This is a full-time temporary position that will end on December 31, 2020.

 

Are you an engaging facilitator and passionate about peer learning?  Edmonton Public Library has an exciting initiative - the Google IT Support Certificate (GISC) program - that you could be part of! The GISC program is a new collaboration between 4 Canadian libraries and Google Canada aimed at increasing the digital skills of Canadians. Through the program, students will complete an 8 month online course through which they will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to help start their IT support career.

 

Over 2 years, using the Peer-to-Peer University learning circle model, the Learning Facilitator will help GISC learners stay engaged and inspired for successful course completion.

 

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include:

Helping recruit program participants.
Leading 3 in-person learning facilitation sessions and 1 online session per week. 
Trouble shooting Coursera and QuikLab problems encountered by students.
Engaging in weekly meetings with their peers at the other 3 participating libraries.
Collecting feedback and success stories to further inform program development.

 

Job Requirements: 

University degree in a related field such as Education, from a recognized post-secondary institution.
A minimum of three year of related experience (e.g. adult education or workplace learning).
Training in peer-to-peer learning facilitation or a related field is preferred.
Experience working with Coursera, Quiklab or other online learning tools is an asset.
Work experience in an IT related role is an asset.

Strong technology skills (e.g. Working knowledge of computer troubleshooting, hardware, networking, etc)

 

Note:

Satisfactory background screenings is required for this position which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check. 
This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts. 
This position requires some travel in the City of Edmonton.

 

Hours of Work:

35 hours per week

 

Pay Band: 

$33.31 to $42.52 per hour*

*Approximately $60,857 to $77,684 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.

 

This is a new position. The Employer and the Union are currently discussing the classification and working conditions. In the event of a change to the recommended classification level, the resulting rate of wages shall be retroactive to the date of the appointment.
