The University of Maryland Libraries are considering implementing a librarianship portfolio as part of our promotion and review procedures. We adopted the following one-sentence description of a librarianship portfolio to help explain our goals to our colleagues:

“A cohesive collection of documents which provides evidence and context for the claims made in the sections of a CV and personal statement (such as may be submitted as part of a faculty member's application for permanent status) dealing with the category of ‘librarianship.’"

If you have something similar at your institution, we would love to hear about it! We are especially interested in what sorts of documents you do and do not include in the portfolio, as well as your opinions about how successful the portfolios have been. Please contact me off list at [log in to unmask] with your response.

Thank you in advance for your time!
