The Research Services Department provides research support to The Ohio State University community on topics and activities relevant to all aspects of the research lifecycle. Reporting to the Head of Research Services, the Research Commons Program Manager is instrumental in the planning, implementation and management of services for the Research Commons. This position supervises staff in the areas of program coordination and Research Commons IT support, is responsible for assessment strategies for Research Commons spaces and services, and prepares regular reports including recommendations for changes to facilities or services based on assessment data. Services as a point of contact and liaison for Research Commons partners and supports other Research Commons staff in coordinating partner services.

Responsible for:

Program Management, Assessment, and Strategic Development: Supervise the Research Commons IT Specialist and Public Services Coordinator and provide second-level supervisory support for the Research Commons student staff as appropriate. Collaborate with University Libraries faculty and staff on the development and implementation of digital scholarship and research data services offered through the Research Commons. Lead a Research Commons in-reach program to serve the needs of and collaborate with subject liaisons, Area Studies librarians, archivists, curators, and other University Libraries personnel. Design, develop, and implement program policies and assessment strategies for Research Commons spaces and services, and prepare regular reports for evaluation by members of the Research Services department and our partners. Regularly evaluate existing partnerships and strategically develop new partnerships with units in the University Libraries and across campus to enhance services offered to researchers at all phases of the research lifecycle. Serve as the main point of contact for OSU's TDAi engagement including coordination of shared services and consistent, ongoing engagement. Regularly assess space and technology needs in the Research Commons and collaborate with University Libraries faculty and staff to design and implement user-oriented solutions. Guide complex decision making for referrals on services or research-related topics for faculty, staff, and students; staff the Research Commons physical and virtual service points as needed. Lead strategic planning and implementation efforts related to Research Services online educational content, including research guides, screencasts, and tutorials. Collaborate with Research Services faculty and staff and University Libraries AD&S to research and recommend content and features for the Research Commons website to enrich the user experience.
