Hi Everybody,

Just a reminder about today’s Cloud Studies call. We will be joined by Mike Davis (Principal BDM, AWS, Storage) from Amazon. The agenda and call-in info are provided below. I’ve also given Mike some questions that Art Pasquinelli (LOCKSS, PASIG) helped our group queue up for our upcoming vendor presentations. Mike has agreed to address those and others that we have to time to cover on the call. The call will be recorded for later viewing.

Current Vendor Questions

  1. How do you work with the education and library sectors? Do you have a dedicated sales group?

  1. What is your partner ecosystem relevant to the education and library sectors?

  1. How do you handle provenance?

  1. What are the costs to ingest, keep content?

  1. Show costs around 1 TB and 1PB. (I think this market is divided into big content and small content users. Just my personal opinion as an ex-vendor.)

  1. Do they have a cost reduction model over time for cloud like there is for storage?

  1. How is fixity becoming more versatile and relevant to the cultural heritage sector? (e.g., for hashing/auditing)

  1. How is migration handled? (Everyone talks about fixity, but the fact that cloud vendors build in migration often gets lost, even in their own pitches.)

  1. What security and privacy protections are provided?
