The Digital Collections Librarian manages the intake, maintenance, and sustainability of digitized materials that support the Schaffer Library digital collections program. As part of the Content & Digital Library Systems department, the incumbent works closely with colleagues to manage selected digital repository and digital preservation platforms, ensuring both a high degree of functionality and that digital objects are available for research use in a variety of formats. This librarian serves as technical expert for repository development and standards, and ensures that digitized and born-digital objects can be curated and maintained for short- and long-term access.

Responsibilities

Manage the ingest of digitized materials into the Schaffer Library digital repository. Manage the digital repository and digital preservation systems to ensure access and sustainability of digital objects. Provide technical expertise for workflow, scripting, and access to digital objects. Design workflows that support the digital preservation needs at the library and selected areas on campus. Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure sustainable workflows and models for long-term digital preservation. Collaborate with library departments to build rich digital collections. Provide expertise on campus for the sustainability of digital objects in a variety of research, pedagogical, and collection-building projects. Perform consultations and lend expertise to a variety of repository needs on campus. Serve as liaison to external vendors for software maintenance and feature requests. Contribute to library-wide services and projects, such as instruction, workshops, and events. Pursue a program of professional development, scholarly activity, and service as described in the College’s criteria for promotion and retention.
