Union College seeks a Scholarly Communication Librarian to identify, develop, and coordinate services and programs to support campus awareness of and participation in the evolving scholarly landscape. The librarian will support faculty and students as they navigate increasingly diverse venues and formats of scholarly discourse, staying current with trends and legislation related to the scholarly publishing ecosystem. As a member of the Digital Scholarship and Public Services Division, the librarian develops and participates in digital scholarship and instruction services and programs. As a member of the general faculty, the librarian will also be expected to pursue a focused program of professional development, scholarly activity, and service. Responsibilities Develops scholarly communication programs and services, including education and promotion; guidance on publishing, including federal mandates, author rights and permissions; research management systems; and open educational resources for a range of emerging scholarly outputs (e.g. datasets, immersive experiences, digital media) Identifies and collaborates with appropriate campus partners on programs and policies to support open access and open educational resources Provides expertise and guidance on fulfilling federal and international mandates for sharing/disseminating research outputs Utilizes appropriate research metrics, including citation analysis, bibliometrics, altmetrics, and emerging tools to assist faculty with articulating research impact and managing scholarly reputation Advises and guides researchers on best methods to maximize their reach and online reputation through social media platforms (e.g., academia.edu, Google Scholar and the use of persistent identifiers such as ORCID) Utilizes a variety of outreach and communication methods such as workshops, consultations, and library guides to engage researchers Stays current and up to date with scholarly communication and related areas Participates in programs and services of the Digital Scholarship and Public Services division including research consultation and instruction for both faculty and students Contributes to campus committees and attends campus events to cultivate relationships supporting the library’s mission to enrich the overall academic experience Pursues a program of professional development, scholarly activity and service to meet requirements of the position and promotion Qualifications Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program Minimum of two years working in the field of publishing or research. An equivalent combination of degree and experience will be considered Demonstrated knowledge of research workflows and lifecycles Demonstrated understanding of scholarly repositories (e.g., SSRN, arXiv) and the ability to communicate opportunities and address issues related to their use to the campus community Experience with bibliographic and citation databases that provide bibliometric data (e.g., Journal of Highly Cited Data, Dimensions, Plum Analytics, Scopus and Web of Science) Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and emerging trends in scholarly publishing Awareness of U.S. copyright law and creative commons licensing as it relates to the scholarly communication process Must be safety conscious and able to work with a diverse group of individuals ---- Brought to you by code4lib jobs: https://jobs.code4lib.org/jobs/41648-scholarly-communication-librarian
