At NC State University Libraries we provide an API which is used by
the directories of some colleges and departments:
https://ci.lib.ncsu.edu/directories

Our campus has distributed directories so not all of the publications
lists will look the same. They all use some version of a WordPress
plugin which consumes the Libraries' API. This plugin is developed and
maintained by University Communications and College of Engineering IT.

We have been harvesting publications for those with an NC State
affiliation for 12+ years. Recently we rewrote that application to
focus on encouraging ORCID adoption and providing related services. We
call this application the Citation Index:
https://ci.lib.ncsu.edu

In the Citation Index researchers can link their ORCID iD with their
campus identity and then take advantage of various services. We
encourage faculty to use their ORCID iD when they publish, but that
only helps with learning about the publications in the future. The
keystone service is where we take a CV and fill in gaps in their
Citation Index record. From there we can then fill gaps (or as is
often the case add the first information) to ORCID records via ORCID's
API. We're a member of the ORCID US Community through a partnership
between the Libraries and the Office of Research & Innovation.

Our first use cases presented to faculty included getting their
directory pages updated. Since then we've been asked about other
reuses of this data. We're working with academic and administrative
units to make publications data available to various faculty activity
reporting systems.

And the advantage of syncing publications to ORCID is reuse of the
data in hundreds of other systems. For instance we're collaborating
with research administrators on improving ORCID records to be ready
for completing biosketches. NSF will be changing its biosketch format
soon and the one system which creates the new format is SciENcv
(maintained by the NIH). We encourage users to start with the Citation
Index in order to get their ORCID record ready.

If you're interested in learning more about any of this I'd be happy
to set up a Zoom call. You can also see some of the public
presentations we've done on ORCID and the Citation Index here:
