News & Projects

Just released:

DLF's Project Managers Working Group recently hosted an online presentation by Melissa Wisner, IT Project & Portfolio Management Librarian at NCSU Libraries. Watch "Before Action Reviews: Beginning a Project Through Inquiry" to learn techniques for facilitating meaningful intake collection with project stakeholders on CLIR+DLF's YouTube channel and view the chat transcript from the presentation.

Members of the DLF Labor Working Group's subgroup on Contingency and Precarity, with fellow practitioners outside of DLF, co-authored the newly released recommendation document: "Do Better" - Love(,) Us: Guidelines for Developing and Supporting Grant-funded Positions in Digital Libraries, Archives, and Museums. Read it on https://dobetterlabor.com/.

We're pleased to announce the formation of a new working group. DLF's Digital Accessibility Working Group was created to explore issues related to ensuring access to digital library resources for disabled patrons and staff. For more information and to get involved, email us at [log in to unmask].

Fall 2019 Projects:

  • In September, DLF's Digital Library Pedagogy Working Group published the #DLFteach Toolkit 1.0: Lesson Plans for Digital Library Instruction, an open and peer-reviewed collection of lesson plans and concrete instruction strategies.
  • In November, DLF's Born-Digital Access Working Group released its initial draft of "Levels of Born-Digital Access," a set of tiered guidelines that provide benchmarks for levels of access to born-digital material. Be on the lookout for the final version from #BDaccess in early February!

Calls for Participation

The DLF Museums Cohort is looking for 2020 co-organizers! Collaborate with other organizers to delve into topics and projects you're interested in and help make connections with other DLF working groups. All volunteers welcome, and DLF membership is not required.

More information on DLF's Museums Cohort is available on our website. Email us at [log in to unmask] for more details about how you can get involved with and contribute to this community of practice around digital library and archival work at museums.
